Simon's been in the business for over 40 years now and is amongst the UK's busiest production managers. In 2007 he created Simon Gooding Production Management Ltd and has since supplied the services for but not limited to;  High School Musical (in the UK and Spain), the world premiers of Never Forget (UK Tour and West End) and Flashdance (UK Tour and West End), The Wedding Singer, West Side Story, the award-winning Stones in his Pockets, SHOUT!, the award-nominated Footloose in South Africa, a new production of The Rocky Horror Show, Jus' Like That, GREASE (West End, International Tour and the UK tour), SPAMALOT, Footloose (UK Tour), Midnight Tango (Premier and UK tour),  the UK tour of Legally Blonde, the new UK tour of SPAMALOT, the new UK tour of Midnight Tango,  the world premier of Vampirette which he also designed, Steel Magnolias, Dandy Dick, The Mousetrap, Blue Orange, 9 to 5,  The Rocky Horror Show,  CATS,  Priscilla Queen of the Desert,  the final UK tour of Midnight Tango,  GREASE in Brisbane Australia, West Side Story, Some Girl I Used To Know, Robin Cousins ICE,  the world premier of Dance Til Dawn, Rock of Ages UK tour, the world premier of  The Water Babies,  Annie Get Your Gun,  Jersey Boys, CATS at the London Palladium,  the new UK tour of Spamalot, Dance Til Dawn, The Producers, Love Me Tender,  XANADU,  Guys and Dolls, a new tour of The Rocky Horror Show the tour of ANNIE, two versions of GREASE on board two cruise liners, a new world tour of CATS, the UK tour of Sister Act, the UK tour of Funny Girl, the 2017 UK tour of GREASE,  a new West End production of ANNIE, the UK tour of BEAUTIFUL, the UK tour of Sunset Boulevard, the world tour of EVITA starting in South Africa, the UK Premier and tour of NATIVITY the musical, the UK Premier of An Officer and a Gentleman the musical, The London Palladium production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the new production of White Christmas, the UK tour and London run of On Your Feet, the West End premier of Pretty Woman, the UK tour of WAITRESS, the UK tour of School of Rock, the UK tour of White Christmas, the UK tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat plus its transfer to Toronto, the UK tour of Pretty Woman, the UK tour of 42nd Street plus its transfer to Toronto, the China tour of Love Never Dies, the UK tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Simon began his professional career at the Bristol Hippodrome Theatre as a technician from where he moved on to become Head of Department at the Theatre Royal, Bath. Following five years in Bath he went on to work as master carpenter on many touring and West End productions whilst also running his own scenery and furniture workshop. After being asked to production manage Great Expectations for Apollo Leisure UK in 1994, Simon production-managed numerous touring productions including Summer Holiday, Tommy Steele’s What a Show, Buddy, The Rocky Horror Show, Smokey Joe’s Café and the Aldeburgh Opera Festival.

 

From 1998 Simon worked as senior production manager for Coordination on many productions worldwide including Smokey Joe’s Café, Sesame Street Live, Soul Train, Jim Davidson’s Dick Whittington and Cinderella, Songs for a New World, Rosie and Jim’s Music Party and three world premiere stage musicals of Casper, The Mask and Spiderman. Simon also production managed; The Rocky Horror Show, My One and Only, White Folks, Sesame Street Live in Bahrain, Nixon’s Nixon, Vincent in Brixton, The Rat Pack Live From Las Vegas, Sesame Strasse (Germany), A Little Night Music, The Baker’s Wife, Money to Burn, The Holy Terror, Simply Heavenly, The Witches, Love Shack, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Footloose, The Rocky Horror Show (new production and tour), The New Statesman, the move of Chicago from the Adelphi to the Cambridge Theatre, Guys and Dolls in the UK and Melbourne, GREASE, and Aspects of Love.

 

Simon’s various interests in and knowledge of the theatre industry have found him advising on a panel which endeavours to improve the Health and Safety of the working environment for people at work within theatre.  He has also provided consultancy services for the broader corporate entertainment industry and has assisted as a Stage Management tutor at LAMDA.

 

His wife still likes him to be at home occasionally to put up shelves, when he's not messing around with motorbikes of course. But you can't have everything!
